Ebb
Silver, silk, pearl, stone, bone. oyster shell.
Ebb jewellery relates to the minute detail of objects found on Cumbrian beaches. The forms and links found in oyster chains, earrings and bangles are directly informed by the patterns found in oyster shells. Stone necklaces incorporate natural pummice whilst the links are based upon the shapes of the holes found in the stone. Rings are silver casts taken from found bones and incorporate pearls and sections of oyster shell.
Pattern and repetition are ever present within this collection. How closely do we examine the items and experiences that we collect? How does scale and perspective affect our interpretation of objects, of items, of interactions, of life?
Along with Drift, Golden Bones, and Flotsam; Ebb is part of an exploratory project into tides as a metaphor for mood disorder.
